First Friday in Groves on Lincoln Avenue is a fun filled family oriented event. Scheduled to take place the First Friday of each month, no two events are ever the same! The events are located on Lincoln Avenue between Washington and Coolidge.
First Friday in Groves will offer family fun entertainment from 6 to 9 p.m. November 7, on Lincoln Ave.
Mary and Neil Early will conduct story time with an exciting interpretation of a "Jack Tale". The twosome offers a wide variety of storytelling, creative drama, and puppetry, as well as literary, historical, and biblical characterizations. The story will include interaction with the audience. Mr. and Mrs. Early have a unique talent of making the story come to life. The program begins a 6:30 at Entertainment Center.
Also in attendance, Southeast Texas Food Bank plans to prepare for the upcoming holidays. Their mission is to procure and provide food and other resources to nonprofit organizations to alleviate hunger in the impoverished areas of southeast Texas and neighboring counties. More than 16,000 households receive food each month from member agencies of the Southeast Texas Food Bank and approximately 200,000 meals are prepared each month with food provided by the Food Bank. Donations will be accepted throughout the event.
First Friday, a merchant sponsored event, is celebrated the first Friday of every month and provides free family entertainment, special sales, food and door prizes. Most stores along Lincoln Avenue will remain open until 9 p.m. and The Courtyard Café buffet line is open from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Free street entertainment will include contests and music from DJ Donna Marx, balloon animals by Sunny the Clown, face painting by the Jester, and a Moonwalk sponsored by Selman Chiropractic.
